DraftKings, a leading sports betting and daily fantasy sports operator, has entered into a partnership with South African gaming and hospitality group Peermont Hotels, Gaming and Resorts that will see it launch a new mobile and online sportsbook in the country.

In terms of the partnership, DraftKings will provide the hospitality company with its B2B sports betting technology that it acquired through its acquisition of SBTech, to launch PalaceBet.co.za, which will be Peermont’s initial step into the online sports betting market.

The partnership will also see the South African platform benefiting from date integrations with IMG and Betgenius which will give customers an opportunity to place bets on a range of national and international sporting events.

DraftKings will also roll out additional features such as a bet builder and odds boosts with customers also being able to participate in draw-based Lucky Numbers games.

Iain Gutteridge, General Manager at PalaceBet, commented that the way they are looking to grow and to compete on an international scale, they knew that DraftKings could offer the software solution so that they could not only offer variety, but quality to their clients.

Shay Berka, Chief International Officer at DraftKings, commented on the partnership by saying that they are delighted that DraftKings’ B2B technology is powering Peermont’s entry into sports betting, through which they can provide their customers with extensive markets, live betting opportunities, competitive pricing and localized payment options.

Sports betting is currently the only form of online gambling that is legal in South Africa with other gambling activities such as casinos and slots considered illegal.
