Addison Global-owned sports betting brand MoPlay has announced that it has signed up as a member of the German Sports Betting Association (DSWV) which represents operators that are active in Germany.

The sports betting brand joins the likes of Interwetten, Sky Bet, Paddy Power Betfair, William Hill and bet365 as a member of the organization.

MoPlay was founded in 2018 and has since then established a presence in Germany, assisted by its partnership with Bundesliga football club Hertha BSC.  It also operates in markets such as the Republic of Ireland, Austria and the United Kingdom and went live in Mexico last week.

Jurgen Reutter, the Chief Executive Officer of MoPlay, said that as a new member of the DSWV, they are expressly committed to Germany and will participate in the discussion on future sports betting regulation.

Reutter went on to say that their innovative betting product focusing on mobile devices in combination with their young brand will also be a growth driver in Germany.

Mathias Dahms, the President at DSWV, added that they warmly welcome MoPlay to their association and look forward to supporting the international start-up, led by experienced managers from the European iGaming sector as a powerful new member.

Dahms also said that with operators expected to adhere to the restrictive terms of the third amended State Treaty on Gambling until 30 June 2021, the market should be significantly expanded under the legislation that replaces it.

Last month the organization called for a root-and-branch overhaul of Germany’s current gambling regulatory framework.
