The National Football League (NFL) and Genius Sports Group (Genius), a global leader in digital sports content, technology and integrity services have announced a new multi-year strategic partnership that will see Genius power the future of NFL fan experiences with the use of personalized, data-driven technology.

In terms of the partnership, Genius will act as the NFL’s exclusive distributor of real-time official play-by-play statistics, proprietary Next Gen State (NGS) data as well as the League’s official sports betting data feed to media companies and sports betting operators across the globe, including the U.S. where legal.

Genius and the NFL will also develop a jointly governed technology center/hub dedicated to driving the future of NFL betting through innovation of NFL’s data feeds, data products and fan engagement offerings.

Sportradar – Genius’s main competitor had been the exclusive distributor of the NFL since 2015 and in 2019 expanded the partnership to include sports betting data and the change, is therefore, a considerable blow to the company.

Terms of the new agreement are not yet available but it is purported to last at least four years with options, and gives the NFL an equity stake in the company.
