Friday marked the day that players in Michigan could finally play online casino games and bet on sports. Ten sites officially went live just before the weekend, meaning that players can play from the comfort of their own home via their desktop or mobile device.

The ten sportsbooks have partnered with local casinos. Some of the big brand names include FanDuel, BetMGM, Penn Sports Interactive, DraftKings, William Hill, Wynn and Golden Nugget.

Some of the limitations of the new Michigan online gambling industry as follows:

  • Players need to be 21 years of age or older to participate.
  • Players need to be within Michigan’s borders in order to play. They do not have to be residents of the state, though.

Michigan’s online gambling industry was legalized a year ago, but it took online casinos and sportsbooks until January 22nd, 2021 to go live. The Michigan Gaming Control Board oversees the industry. 15 provisional licenses have been issued. The final five – namely GAN Nevada, NYX Digital Gaming, Parx Interactive, Kambi and the Stars Group – are expected to go live in the coming days.

Most operators will offer an excellent selection of video slot games, as well table games such as roulette and blackjack. They will work with popular local banking methods – such as ACH, PayPal prepaid cards and credit cards – to make the deposit and withdrawal process convenient.
