Omni-channel sports betting solutions Playtech BGT Sports, is thrilled to announce that it has set a record number of bets during the Wimbledon tennis tournament, with more than £9 million wagered.

Playtech BGT Sport’s next generation self-service betting terminals (SSBTs) have continued to be an assertive force in retail owing to their comprehensive range, convenience and ease-of-use.  Its expansion in mobile-based betting has been the most important and forms an increasingly key part of the company’s growth initiative.

The amount wagered is up almost 50% from last year’s numbers, with mobile wagers increasing the most at 300% from 2018.  The big movement was a result of the BetTracker app, which allows punters to check progress on bets that were placed through terminals. The Wimbledon tournament took place between 1st and 14th June, with Djokovic and Simona Halep coming out victorious.  The BetTracker app is available on both Apple and Android and has been designed to bring the convenience of online to the retail betting experience.

Lee Drabwell, the Senior Commercial Director at Playtech BGT Sports, commented on the success by saying that while their continued growth in bets taken on their SSBT’s comes as no surprise, the exponential growth in popularity of their mobile-based betting was ace.

Drabwell went on to say that BetTracker and similar products continue to improve both user experience and operator revenues.  He added that to bring technology that is now routine online into retail estates for the first time, they are seeing greater customer adoption and the benefit of significant increased revenues for their operators.
