BetMGM Poker has announced the return of its Six Figure Sunday High Roller, a monthly tournament that features $100,000 in guarantees. The tournament will once again be available across all of BetMGM’s US markets – New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.

BetMGM Poker’s Six Figure Sunday High Roller is Back

BetMGM Poker last hosted the Six Figure Sunday High Roller on October 22, with the tournament falling short of meeting its guarantee in all three states. The overlay is not an issue for the operator as it is set to run another edition of the tournament on November 19.

The Six Figure Sunday High Roller features a buy-in of $1,000 and $100,000 in guaranteed prize money, with the winner expected to walk away with an estimated $30,000+ in top prize.

Each player sits down with a 100,000 starting stack, initially played to 12-minute levels. The blinds then go up every 15 minutes in the later stages. Re-entry is permitted until the end of level 18.

Overlay Expected

For those who can’t afford the $1,000 entry fee, they may qualify for as little as $2 via satellites on BetMGM Poker. The November 19 edition of the tournament may also end in overlay which means extra value for players.

Sweepstakes casino operator Virtual Gaming Worlds (VGW) has announced that it will exit Michigan as the state intensifies its crackdown on unlicensed platforms. VGW’s decision to leave the Great Lakes State will impact the operations of its three sweepstake casino brands – Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots, and Global Poker.

Michigan Gets Tough on Unregulated Online Poker Sites

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has in recent months kept a close eye on unlicensed operators offering their services to Michiganders, as part of its campaign against illegal gambling.

Michigan launched its regulated online poker market in April 2021, allowing local players to compete for real money at licensed online poker rooms. However, there are still online poker sites in Michigan operating using a sweepstakes model. They operate like social casinos whereby customers play using virtual currencies, not real money deposits.

However, the virtual currencies are available for purchase and can be redeemed for cash. Such operations are unregulated in the state and authorities are now trying to get rid of sweepstake-style sites one by one. Last month, a similar platform, Golden Hearts Games, was also ordered by the MGCB to terminate their operations.

Global Poker Accounts to be Deactivated on Feb. 1, 2024

As for the VGW, its Global Poker site will no longer accept Gold Coin purchases from November 1, but players may still play on the platform using their remaining coins until December 1. Customers have until February 1, 2024 to redeem any Sweeps Coins accumulated before December 1, 2023.

The VGW will proceed with the deactivation of all players’ accounts on Global Poker on February 1, 2024.

The poker communities of Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan had an exciting two months of online poker packed with opportunities to win WSOP bracelets for the second time in 2023.

WSOP.com gave the combined player pool of Nevada and New Jersey a chance to win 33 gold WSOP bracelets in the latter half of September and the former half of October.

Since the player pool on its Michigan and Pennsylvania platforms was small, the WSOP could host only one bracelet event in each state. However, the $150,000 Mystery Bounty Championship attracted a significant turnout.

In Michigan, the player pool comprised 113 unique players, 18 of whom finished in the cash. Player “stazy007” won $56,135 and the WSOP gold bracelet.

In Pennsylvania, the event attracted 128 unique players, 24 of whom finished in the cash. Player “CaptainLevi” won the bracelet and $31,470 in cash.

Top poker players worldwide participated in the WSOP event in New Jersey and Nevada. Shannon Shorr won two WSOP gold bracelets after finishing in the cash 140 times. He won nearly $90k in the $2k NLH 6-Max and over $35k in the $1k NLH Freezeout.

Over 12,260 players participated in the WSOP.com event, which awarded $8,669,056 in cash prizes.

Bet365 Poker became the first online poker room on the iPoker Network to launch mystery bounty tournaments on October 21, 2023.

The online poker room hosts the €100k Mystery Bounty Tournament with multiple Day 1s from October 21 to November 20, 2023. The final table is on November 20, 2023, at 8:30 p.m. UK time.

The event has several daily flights, each with buy-ins of $100, starting stacks of 10,000 chips, ten-minute sessions, and blinds starting at 50/100/80. Late registration is available for the first ten levels, but no re-entries or re-buys.

However, the online poker room allows registered players to enter as many Day 1s as possible and combines their stacks if they progress to Day 2 multiple times.

A €100k Mystery Bounty flight ends after the 14th level, sending survivors to Day 2, which will play on November 20.

On Day 2, participants get mystery bounties ranging from a few Euros to €10,000 or more on their heads. Bet365 reveals the bounty amount automatically when a player gets eliminated.
