FanDuel, a leading sports betting operator, has entered into a partnership agreement with Baltimore-based The Cordish Companies that will see Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) and Sports Betting being brought to the casino company’s Live! Casino & Hotel properties and entertainment districts around the country.

According to Baltimore-based commercial real estate and hospitality developer The Cordish Companies, FanDuel will be its sportsbook partner at its Maryland Live! Casino if legal sports betting comes to the state.

The sports betting platform has over 8.5 million customers in 45 states and operates the largest retail sportsbook in the world.

Sports betting will initially be offered at Cordish’s Live Casino & Hotel Philadelphia and at Live! Casino in Westmoreland County, close to Pittsburgh.

The two companies intend pursuing sports betting licenses and online gaming opportunities in Washington, as well as Maryland and other places across the United States as legalized sports betting spreads across the country.

FanDuel will also be instrumental in handling wagering in Pennsylvania for Cordish, where the company in currently building a $700 million casino resort in Philadephia’s stadium district, as well as a $150 million satellite casino in Westmoreland outside Pittsburgh.

The sports betting operator already operates in the Keystone State, the sportsbook facilitating sports betting for the Valley Forge Casino Resort in the Philly suburbs.  The FanDuel sportsbook is also operational in West Virginia, Mississippi, New Jersey, Indiana, Iowa and New York.

Legal sports betting has continued to spread across the country with Michigan last week becoming the 19th state to pass laws to govern the gambling activity.
