Yet another major sports league has inked a deal with a sports betting group. This time around, it was Major League Baseball (MLB) which announced FanDuel’s new status as authorized gaming partner. This multi-year deal will see FanDuel gain access to official MLB data, branding and logos. The information will be used at retail sportsbook locations, as well as at online sports betting sites operated by FanDuel.

“Fantasy sports and sports betting have become a national pastime in their own right, so it’s natural to join forces with MLB,” said FanDuel president and chief operating officer, Kip Levin. “MLB clearly understands how working together can be beneficial for baseball fans and both companies alike.”

This is the sports betting and fantasy sports group’s first official partnership with the MLB.  However, the deal does not grant the group exclusive use of MLB data. In fact, FanDuel is MLB’s third authorized gaming partner (with MGM Resorts World and DraftKings being the other two). Kenny Gersh, who serves as the executive vice president, gaming and new business ventures at MLB, said about the partnership: “Baseball is one of the most popular sports to bet on and partnering with MLB allows us to make the betting experience even better for our customers. With an enhanced betting experience, sports fans are watching more baseball as they have a stake in the game.”
