In 2014 Microgaming’s PlayItForward initiative partnered with the Isle of Man’s Department of Education, Sport and Culture in order to launch the Microgaming Education Bursary.

The bursary provides bright students whose financial circumstances does not give them the opportunity to attend, or continue at university, with the necessary funding with the program contributing to the well-being of the Isle of Man and staying true to its message of corporate social responsibility.

Seven graduates have to date achieved their degrees under the Microgaming Education Bursary scheme in disciplines that range from Theoretical Physics with Mathematics, Primary Mathematics Education with QTS, Law with Criminology, Business Management, Logic & Philosophy, LLB and Outdoor Leadership and Activities.

A further five bursary recipients who are currently in University are taking degrees in Computer Engineering, Economics, Business Management with Marketing, Classical Civilizations and Forensic Psychology.

A spokesperson for Microgaming’s PlayItForward initiative, commented on the funding by saying that they believe that the Isle of Man’s next generation of leaders, thinkers and creators should be given every opportunity to flourish and that Microgaming PlayItForward is funding university bursaries for a number of underprivileged Isle of Man students who have demonstrated drive to improve themselves through higher education.

Applicants who make it into the program are ensured that they can stay focused on their studies and not sacrifice their academic performance to sustain themselves as the bursary includes payment of their living expenses as they pursue their degree.

Microgaming’s PlayItForward is well-known for providing support to local charities, health projects and sports clubs.
