SkyBet, a leading UK betting group, is pleased to announce that they have entered into a sponsorship deal in terms of which it will become the title sponsor of the Ebor race at England’s York Racecourse.

The Ebor race is one of the most important events in the British horse racing calendar and the agreement will see the bookmaker signing a five year deal as title sponsor for the 14 furlong race which has resulted in a considerable financial boost for all involved.

A prize fund of £500,000 has been released for the 2018 edition of the famous handicap while that amount will double all the way up to £1 million next year.

Richard Flint, CEO at Sky Bet, commented on the sponsorship by saying that Sky Bet is proud to be based in Yorkshire and they are excited to be part of the future of such a great race.

Flint went on to say that this is only the first phase of an exciting partnership which he hopes will mean fantastic things for Yorkshire racing.

Lord Grimthorpe, Chairman of the York Racecourse, added that the Ebor has been a feature of his racing life and he thinks that these plans set it on a firm course for future success.  He went on to say that this great race encapsulates ambition, innovation and heritage, all of which are very much a part of York’s ethos.

Nick Rust, CEO of the British Horseracing Authority, underlined how important Sky Bet’s backing is, both in terms of the Ebor race and the other events that the sportsbook is backing.
