UK and Ireland sports book operator William Hill has announced that its current Chairman, Gareth Davis, will depart the company with effect from 2nd April, 2018 and that Roger Devlin has been appointed as Chairman Designate with effect from 1st February 2018.

Sir Roy Gardner, the Senior Independent Director of William Hill, commented on the appointment by saying that Roger Devlin has vast experience as a listed company Chairman, in the City from his early days in corporate finance and across his sector relevant appointments at Hilton Group, Gamesys and SIS.  He added that they look forward to him joining as Chairman and continuing the strong recent progress the Group has made under Gareth’s chairmanship.

Gardner also took the opportunity to thank Gareth Davis for his considerable contribution and commitment to the Group over the past seven years.  He said that Gareth’s experience, energy and commitment have been on considerable benefit to William Hill as they seek to continue to grow the business online and internationally and to deliver their strategy.  He also said that they look forward to working with him in the coming months and wish him well for the future.

Gareth Davis commented that he has greatly enjoyed his time at William Hill and is pleased the business is on a strong footing, continues to grow and has established strategic positions in key international markets.

Roger Devlin said that William Hill is a business and brand he has greatly admired during his years in the leisure sector and more recently as Chair of SIS.

Roger Devlin is currently Chairman of Marston’s PLC, having been appointed with effect from 1st September 2013.
