Two racecourses in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa – Scottsville Racecourse and Greyville Racecourse – have entered into a partnership agreement via their operator Gold Circle with Hollywoodbets bookmaker ahead of this year’s Vodacom Durban July.

In terms of the R10 million agreement, Hollywoodbets has been granted name rights on the racecourses for a three year period.

The two stadiums have now been re-named Hollywoodbets Scotsville Racecourse and Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse.

Although other types of sports have signed sponsorship agreements with gambling companies and bookmakers, this is the very- first sponsorship agreement of its kind in the South African horseracing industry.

Hollywoodbets has been part of the South African sports betting industry since 2009 when it opened up fairly close to Greyville Racecourse in Durban.  The bookie has made considerable progress in South Africa and currently employs close to 5,400 people.  Hollywoodbets is believed to be one of the most successful bookmakers in the country, offering odds on markets that include horse racing, soccer and more.

The Vodacom Durban July is one of the most famous horseraces in South Africa with its prestige extending much further than Durban. The race is considered one of the biggest racing events in Africa with the 123rd annual race being held on Saturday, 6th July with 9 feature races on the 12-event program.
