Esports Entertainment Group Inc., an esports entertainment and online gambling operator has announced that its online tournament provider, broadcaster and event organizer Esports Gaming League (EGL) has entered into an agreement with English football club Arsenal FC which will see it manage its Pro Evolution Soccer (“PES”) roster for the eFootball League. In August 2020 the Company signed an LOI to acquire EGL.

The team will be participating in the third season of the eFootball League with nine other clubs.

The two parties first collaborated last year when EGL signed up potential players to represent the Gunners in the eFootball League. The team competed against AS Monaco, FC Bayern Munich, Juventus and Manchester United as part of the league organized by Pro Evolution Soccer developer Konami.

Glen Elliot, Chief Executive Officer of EGL, commented that Arsenal came within one point of Knockout Stage contention in their inaugural season last year, and they are excited to see what happens this season.

Grant Johnson, Chief Executive Officer of Esports Entertainment Group, also spoke on the partnership, saying that Arsenal recognizes the value of EGL’s wealth of experience in esports, and so do they.

Johnson went on to say that they look forward to completing the EGL acquisition and integrating Glen and his team’s expertise into their organization.

Johnson also said that their work with Arsenal and many others, similar to deals they announced with the LA Galaxy, Philadelphia Union and more, provides a strong foothold in major sporting which continues to turn to esports as a way for teams to connect and engage fans.
