Hard Rock International has entered into a joint venture with three former Stars Group executives, including ex-chief executive Rafi Ashkenazi that will see it significantly enhance the restaurant, casino and hotel giant’s digital gaming business.

The new Hard Rock Digital venture will endeavor to utilize Hard Rock International’s network of properties alongside those operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Seminole Gaming arm to develop omni-channel sports betting and igaming businesses worldwide.

Hard Rock International and Seminole Gaming have a database of over 130 million customers between them as well as a footprint of close to 250 land-based properties across 76 countries.

Rafi Ashkenazi will manage the new business as from early next year and will be joined by Marlonn Goldstein, formerly Stars’ Chief Legal Officer, who acts as Hard Rock Digital’s Executive Managing Director and CEO.

Matt Primeaux, previously Senior Vice President of US strategy and operations for Stars serves as Executive Managing Director and President of the new business.

Jim Allen, International Chairman at Hard Rock International commented that with the launch of Hard Rock Digital, they are broadening their digital business which enhances consumer experiences and offerings across their interactive gaming and sportsbook offerings.

He went on to say that Hard Rock Digital also intends to pursue strategic branding and distribution opportunities both within the US and globally.

Allen also said that in the US alone, the potential future market size is estimated at $7bn for sports betting and $14bn for online gaming.
